We are looking for volunteers for the 2020 farming season April through November.
We are a small family farm in central Virginia working towards our USDA Organic Certification and are offering an opportunity to work with an innovative farmer to learn sustainable farming at a small scale. Focusing on minimal tillage, natural mulches and maximized yields per square foot you will be learning how to produce high yields while minimizing day to day maintenance such as weeding.
Volunteers must have a strong work ethic and enjoy hard, rewarding work. Interns must be able to lift 50 pounds. We need folks who are positive thinkers and find joy in working outdoors. Applicants must have a strong attention to detail. Although we do most of our hard work in the morning or late afternoon hours, a high tolerance of heat is a must. We prefer non-smokers.
Volunteers will have private air conditioned housing in a separate 2 story solar off grid house. Wooded lot for hiking and a large pond for fishing and canoeing with Internet available.
If you are interested in learning from us and with us, please send your resume along with personal and professional references to firstname.lastname@example.org.
